Sustainability overview

Doing well by doing good

Sustainability is central to the way we work and the decisions we make, every day. Our comprehensive sustainability strategy features a range of ambitious targets aligned to the United National Sustainable Development goals and overseen by our ESG Board Committee.

Our aim is to enhance the wellbeing of the people in and around our communities, while achieving important milestones, like creating a Green Star Community at Drury.

Sustainability strategy

Our three-pillar sustainability strategy guides the company's environmental, social and governance activities, helping to reduce business risk and create value for our stakeholders.

Partnerships

True sustainability success isn’t measured by what we do on our own but by what we can achieve together. By engaging with supplierstenants and our charity partners, we can work at a greater scale and drive better outcomes. Together we can promote responsible procurement, share the cost of investing in sustainable initiatives, and support those in need.

People

We’re creating diverse, inclusive and connected communities where people come together and feel they belong. Our ambition is to promote the wellbeing of the people in and around our properties and help build a brighter future for Aotearoa New Zealand. Within our organisation, we enable our team members to succeed by delivering exceptional working environments.

Places

We’re embracing sustainability across our portfolio, reducing our environmental footprint and developing sustainable spaces that create wellbeing through a focus on design and connections with nature. By investing in initiatives such as onsite renewable energy sources, we are tracking towards our aspiration of becoming net carbon negative in our operations by 2030.

Sustainable Debt Framework

Our Sustainable Debt Framework sets out how we use the proceeds of green bonds and loans to finance or refinance low carbon and energy efficient buildings. Kiwi Property has several green bonds currently on issue, the most recent of which was successfully launched in March 2023.
