HOLIDAY...TAKE ME AWAY! | WESTGATE LIFESTYLELifestyle
08 July 2020
It’s school holiday time! And, unlike the last article when we were home with our children (lockdown) we can get out and adventure.
We’re encouraged to go explore our backyard – have fun in New Zealand and help our hospitality sector at the same time.
And, it appears that’s exactly what thousands of Kiwis are doing, with many heading southwards, if not to the South Island then down country all the same.
It’s with that thought in mind that I have been browsing our Westgate Lifestyle shops this week, thinking what holiday-makers may need. Gloves, warm socks, beanies, maybe some new and warm (flannelette) pyjamas to pack inside what may be hand-luggage sized bags.
I’m pretty good at holidaying with only light luggage – it’s a fun challenge and keeps airfares down. The gorgeous cherry-red bag I have included here is carry-on size, for example, comes in black too and is at clearance price. The other bag I have featured is at half price.
One of the tricks of travelling light is to limit toiletry sizes. Pack shampoo etc in small-sized containers, and the cosmetic case I found has compartments perfect for housing little bottles.
For those heading off on a roadie I’ve included a snug rug for the back of the car and a few things to keep the young ones entertained. Of course, an iPad will do that, but it’s not a silly inclusion for the adults too as it may negate the need to lug a laptop along on holiday.
I’ve actually booked a South Island trip for next month. As a lover of the warmth, I’ve never braved the South Island in August as a holiday destination, so I’m off to Rebel Sport to extend my wardrobe to include gloves and a beanie.
Once again, it’s a great time to go shopping – for whatever purpose – as there are a massive number of sales on. Most of what I have featured here includes slashed prices.
Which reminds me, now’s the perfect time to go and buy a crockpot for one of my sons who will begin his flatting days next year. Call me crazy, but I’m making the most of the sales to put things aside for Christmas.
Actually, I think you can call me smart! Whatever the incentive, happy shopping.
