One of the best ways to revitalise a tired space and create a lasting impression is by adding one or two show-stopping pieces aka 'statement makers'. A statement-maker can be bold and bright or quietly striking. It can be a 'break-the-bank' kind of buy or a cheap and cheerful one but it should be an item that speaks to your personality and creates a talking point. Here are 15 statement-making finds to spark inspiration:

A great looking coffee table is at the heart of all good conversations. Gold and copper are fun options for brightening up a room while tables with an industrial feel like glass and metal will add a little bit of edginess.

A striking new sofa is possibly one of the most noticeable ways to make an impact but it is also one of the biggest furniture purchases you’ll ever make. If you can see yourself living with a bold colour for a few years go for gold but if not, a funky armchair is a great place to start.

When we think of blank walls and needing to fill them, paintings and wall hangings are an obvious choice but if you’re after more light and space then a mirror can be just as captivating and functional too.

Dining area feeling a little lacklustre? Splash out and change your light fixture or simply change your shade. A great light can double as a piece of art plus floor lamps and desk lights can be easily moved around when it is time for a change.

It’s big, bold and makes a plain bed feel instantly more grand. Headboards lift the look of a bedroom by adding much needed texture and colour and they’re also great for small bedrooms where floor space is at a premium.

Rugs look good on both hard floors, carpet and even walls making them a versatile statement-making item. Layer a couple together for an eclectic vibe or fill them out with floor cushions and pouffes for added interest.
