URBAN SAFARI | GET THE LOOK | THE PLAZA

I’m all about personal style. If YOU love it, wear it, and don’t worry about what the trends are doing.

But we are often influenced in subtle ways to add a trend to our everyday wardrobe, and that’s okay! It adds some sort of currency, and an updated feel to our look.

We see images, prints, shapes and fabrics that are inspired by the currents trends, but the beauty of choice is that we do get to wear it our own way.

It might just be a colour that you like, or a button detail. Prints are strong this season, so have fun with them!

I wanted to share three of my expert tips to help you nail the Urban Safari look, along with some of my favourite pieces to help you do that from The Plaza.

  1. It’s all about the colour palette

Think jungle colours — the green of the leaves, the beige and stone colours of the sand. Tans and browns that make us think of riding boots, pith helmets and safari suits (don’t worry, I’m not suggesting you go full safari here!)

There are beautiful colours that will work for everyone in this trend, so just go with the ones that work for you.

  1. If in doubt, linen

I always say that I love when a fabric becomes part of a trend because it means YOU then have the power to choose how to work it into your wardrobe.

Linen is back in a big way, and not only is it a nod to this Urban Safari look, it’s a beautiful natural fibre that is easy to wear, and easy to care for (yes, it really is) but also will stand the test of time.

  1. It’s all in the details

Bone or wood buttons are big right now, taffeta and straw accessories, and even adding the good old animal print into your look will give your outfit that Urban Safari feel.

Sometimes all you need to do it add an accessory, or pay attention to the details of a garment to play along with a trend, so here are some of my fave pieces from The Plaza to help you get into the Urban Safari look.
