A: Kiwi Property has just announced a $223 million retail expansion at Sylvia Park, in a project to be known as the Galleria. We are adding a second floor of retail at the southern end of the centre, complete with a two-storey, flagship Farmers department store, approximately 60 new speciality retailers and what we expect will be a great line up of international and home-grown retail brands.
A: Kiwi Property is New Zealand’s largest property investment company listed on the New Zealand exchange. We’ve been investing in New Zealand for 25 years and today we own and manage some of the country’s most iconic retail and office assets, including Auckland’s Sylvia Park and LynnMall shopping centres, and the landmark Vero Centre and ASB North Wharf office buildings. We’re all about delivering the spaces where New Zealanders want to be.
A: The new look Sylvia Park will include;
On completion, the centre will be approximately 90,000 sqm of retail space and have around 275 stores.
A: Construction will begin almost immediately. We expect completion by mid-2020.
A: Sylvia Park will remain open during the construction period and we will have in place additional signage to assist customers in finding their favourite stores. We will be communicating with all retailers and customers as well as our community to ensure that everyone is informed during the project.
A: Construction is already underway for a brand new five-storey carpark at Sylvia Park. On completion in November 2018 this will add another 600 carparks to the centre. We are also adding another 900 carparks as part of the Galleria development so there will be approximately 5,000 carparks available at Sylvia Park by mid-2020. By utilising our traffic management system you will always know where the available parks are – this is already in place so make sure you check out the digital signs at each carpark or you can even find the best place to park before leaving home. Check out our up-to-date carpark information here.
A: Auckland is growing fast and demand for new retail space has exceeded supply for several years. This situation is forecast to continue into the future, even with extra retail developments coming on stream. Good quality town centre destinations such as Sylvia Park will continue to be attractive to both retailers and customers.
A: On completion, Sylvia Park will be home to around 275 stores and around 5,000 carparks, with an additional 16 stores and 393 carparks located across Mt Wellington Highway at Sylvia Park Lifestyle.
A: We’d love to be able to answer that, but it really is a question for our retailers. We expect we will announce new tenancies over the construction period, so keep a look out for the brands that will join Sylvia Park.
A: Kiwi Property has engaged Naylor Love as the main contractor for the project. We have been working with the Naylor Love team on this project since late 2016.
A: We are delighted that Farmers will be a key addition to the centre. As we progress throughout the development, we look forward to sharing more brand names with you when we can. Kmart is also opening at Sylvia Park (not as part of the Galleria project) in the space Countdown used to occupy, and will open in 2019.
