FRESHEN UP YOUR LOOK (AND YOUR CLOSET) THIS SPRING | NORTHLANDS

28 September 2020

Are you and your wardrobe ready for spring? In-season fashion certainly is. Are the weather gods ready? Maybe they still need to get the memo…

But hey, this is spring in New Zealand.

Whilst the weather might take a while to catch up, now is the perfect time to get your spring wardrobe in order.

I’m going to lay out three easy ways to get your wardrobe ready for all those longer days, and warmer nights that spring brings (but still giving you enough clothes to wear when the temps drop suddenly again, or the rain hits, like it does).

Spring is a great time to give your wardrobe a re-fresh, so here are some of my expert tips to help you do just that.

Have a watch below.

GET YOUR WARDROBE WORKING FOR YOU

Ever heard of “spring cleaning”? Well we’re about to get stuck in! Spring is the perfect time to do a wardrobe clean-out, get rid of the things you aren’t using, and make space for the things you are.

Here’s how to do it in 3 simple steps:

  1. Take EVERYTHING out and sort into 3 piles – YES, NO, MAYBE (donate or sell the noes)
  2. Work out the best way to store everything so it fits and you can see it all. I like to put things in ‘categories”. ie. all your tops together, all your skirts together etc.
  3. Find storage solutions that work best to support this – baskets, like hangers, shoe boxes. You want everything to be easily visible and accessible.

PLAN YOUR SPRING LOOKS

Now that you’ve done an epic wardrobe clean out, you should be able to see what’s missing from your wardrobe. Do you have a whole bunch of tops, but only three pairs of pants? Are you missing shoes that will take you into spring?

Use blogs, social media and Pinterest to work out what looks you want to create for your spring wardrobe, and then start a wish list and hit NORTHLANDS to start filling those gaps.

HAVE YOU GOT TRANS-SEASONAL CLOTHING OPTIONS

As we all know, spring in New Zealand can still be quite changeable when it comes to the weather, and therefore what we need to be wearing.

Have you got pieces in your wardrobe, like light jackets, versatile shoes (ankle boots, closed in flats) that can take you from the cooler days, into the more spring-like ones?

Light weight jackets are a favourite of mine for this interchangeable spring weather,  so I’ve collated a few of my faves from NORTHLANDS below.
