BULLET TRAIN | MOVIE REVEW | LYNNMALL

Entertainment

15 August 2022

Brad Pitt and Bad Bunny star in Bullet Train.

Disclaimer: Don’t be fooled by the constant references to our childhood-favourite Thomas the Tank Engine. This movie is not for younger viewers. Bullet Train is two hours of fun fights, funny dialogue, and is the sort of movie you’d put on when you’ve had a long day and need something that doesn’t require an Inception level of brain power.

Keeping in the theme of Mindfulness Month, this August release can be summarised as one charming Ladybug’s journey to find peace and zen in a chaotic environment. As the name of the movie suggests, the plot takes place on a Bullet Train in Japan and moves just as quickly!  We follow five assassins on seemingly unrelated missions and considering the multiple sets of competing storylines, the film does a great job at making sure you don’t get lost along the way.

Brad Pitt and Aaron Taylor-Johnson star in Bullet Train.

Directed by the same great mind that brought us Deadpool 2, Bullet Train is just as inappropriately hilarious, action-packed and as a bonus, brings us some great cameos. The other characters are just as colourful and engaging, with great, sometimes tragic backstories. The cast has been chosen well and add their own personalities, humour, and twists to the plot.

The story is off to a really quick, rather dark start and continually adds to the darkness (only in plot) with a neon-lit train ride full of no-good lovable baddies and a pile of dead bodies. The codenames used in the movie range from sinister to absurd.

Joey King star in Bullet Train.

As the train speeds towards its final destination, our rag-tag team of assassins stumble, punch, kick, and shoot their way through the carriages as we slowly piece together their mission.  The action is seamless and worth a second, closer watch just to appreciate the lightning-fast moves by Brad Pitt.

Don’t be a Diesel, make sure you watch Bullet Train!
