Join us as we celebrate Matariki at Centre Place.
Enjoy making your way around the 30 minute self-guided Star Walk trail in the central city, where you can discover the legend of Matariki and her six daughters. Each location will tell you the legend of one of the stars with a QR code to scan and view the Star Walk map. Find out more about the Hamilton CBD Matariki Star Trail HERE.
Stop off at Centre Place and learn all about Tupuaarangi, the star connected with everything that grows up in the trees - fruits, berries and birds. If Tupuaarangi is shining bright, it means it's a good year for fruit and hunting birds. Tupuaarangi is made up of two words- "Tupu" which can mean "new shoot" or "to grow", and rangi "sky".
