HELLO YELLOW | WESTGATE LIFESTYLE

Lifestyle

31 January 2023

I read a wee blurb, titled “Brighten Up”, in a magazine the other day, that was singing the praises of yellow.  It was saying something like, how, in a monochrome interior, bright yellow is the perfect accent to ground the overall look. It also said: “The weather’s warm, the sun’s sticking around for longer, summer is here… what better way to celebrate than with bright yellow accents around your home?” True, the weather Gods have dealt us some harsh blows of late and it’s hard to believe this season is actually “summer”, however…

I would argue that yellow has a place beyond the interiors of a home. Shouldn’t we just have some of this colour in our lives given its synonymous with sunshine. So, with sunshine in my mind, I went looking for bright product to feature as we end January and head into February – a month we hope will perform better than its predecessor on the sunshine front, especially as so many of us are battling with post flooding issues.

There are so many ways in which to add colour pops… think cushions, canvasses, sun umbrellas, beach towels, kaftans, citronella candles, bean bags, chairs, jugs and toasters, bowls or lamp shades, for example (the bamboo one pictured takes on a golden sheen when its bulb is doing its thing). You can of course add some yellow to your wardrobe too.

Let’s hear it for yellow. Its attention grabbing, it’s energetic, it’s cheerful (we need that right now), it’s warm… What I’m really saying, to be fair, is let’s hear it for the sunshine. Bring it on! Chances are the weather is still lousy when you are reading this. If you need a pick-me-up then pop down to Westgate Lifestyle and benefit from the summer items on sale or pick up some necessities to see you through summer. Perhaps yellow is positive too.
