GIFT GIVING IS A LOVE LANGUAGE

Lifestyle

11 December 2018

I have decided in this, the lead up to Christmas, that gift giving is one of my love-languages. This is fabulous news for the special people in my life – Christmas bodes well.

I remember the day a girlfriend told me about the five love languages, namely: words of affirmation, gift giving, acts of service, quality time, and physical touch. I do sit nicely in the “acts of service” category as preparing food for people I care about is what I do. But, of course we can be bi-or multi-lingual here. I obviously speak more than one love language as I adore this time of the year when I am totally driven to find the presents to please those I am buying for.

I totally get that this passion doesn’t apply to all – there are plenty for whom Christmas gift buying is a total chore. And so, the focus of this blog is to present you with some items I think make pretty cool gifts. Some of the gifts suggested are new to store – for example the gorgeous birds of paradise cushion I found at Freedom. Also, in that store are the doormats that made me smile. While the “Go Away” messaging isn’t really in the spirit of Christmas there are other options carrying more welcoming messages such as “Hello, it’s me” and “Hello Sunshine”.

Some stores are even offering sale price items (great timing and I love that they are not waiting until Boxing Day) and there are plenty of examples in the 12 products I have selected here. While I thought I had pretty much finished my Christmas shopping the two-toned bbq cover at Briscoes would be a great score for my husband. And, do you think if I bought my son the over-night bag (also found at Briscoes) that he would stop using my husband’s? Chances are you may opt for a family gift…how about a table tennis table that will offer fun for people of varying ages. (There are a few options at Rebel Sport). The Harvey Norman Nokia smartwatch caught my eye with its multiple capabilities coupled with aesthetic appeal. And, btw, the Jory Henley coffee table comes with a white base too. So many wonderful options. This is my last blog before Christmas, so I wish you all the best with your gift buying, and jolly days ahead.
