BIRTHDAYS IN DECEMBER

This date marks her husband’s birthday and Christmas doesn’t get a look in until after his special day. It’s a practise started by his mother to ensure his special day gets the attention it deserves without being overshadowed by a tree and its associated celebrations.

We all know someone with a birthday around this time of the year and chances are they may have mentioned that a combined Christmas-birthday present doesn’t cut the mustard. My girlfriend who celebrates her day of birth only a few sleeps after Christmas has been known to say once or twice (multiplied by 20) that she has “residual gift trauma.” And so it is that this blog serves to remind you to go birthday shopping as well as Christmas shopping.

I’m hoping that at least something I suggest here may be a good fit for either (but not combined…unless the recipient is happy with that idea.) My gift ideas include a power bank (referred to as a social lifesaver) for charging devices, there’s cheese knives and a milk frother, cushion options, glass art, a picnic hamper… and check out the checkers and chess set (for a wonderfully retro idea). A kayak for kids, a diffuser, a dumbbell (yes please), and a recliner chair are my other suggestions. And, if the “go away” mat offends, rather than tickles your funny bone, then rest assured there are other options carrying more wholesome messages such as “Hello Sunshine.” Anyway, Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday.

PS: Apparently there’s one saving grace to having a birthday close to Christmas, and it’s that everyone is in a good mood and ready to party. So, if you can round up your nearest and dearest, you’ve got a fun time ahead.

PPS. Important fact…wrapping the birthday present in Christmas paper is a very BIG no no.
