$50 AND UNDER

Gifts galore that won’t break the budget

I got somewhat distracted in my blog-writing this week.

I set out to write about great finds under $50 and started noting cool bits and pieces priced $20 and less. Trust me there are a few, and they will be perfect for discussion closer to Christmas time when we talk stocking fillers, presents within a set budget, and a little something for the colleagues. But Christmas is still AGES away, and so I made a u-turn, so to speak, and put myself back on the $50 and under path. Confession: the Warehouse Stationery IPhone case pictured is actually closer to $60 than $50 (but there are others under $50) – I just opted to feature this one as its sparkly aspect won me over. Truth be told I’m enthused about lots of my finds. Top of the pops is the heart from The Importer, which comes in different sizes and would be a great addition to my outdoor décor (and the fruit basket is a bit lovely too).

I suspect I may be dropping hints in the lead up to Christmas (yes, still ages away) about the Endurance run-in-ear headphones from Harvey Norman. I am good at running regularly with my running buddy but hopeless at making it happen on my own. I reckon the headphones could make all the difference – more running (but without that “endurance” word). A stylish vase, a dartboard set, a backpack … all prime examples of how the quest to find a great gift or personal purchase doesn’t need to involve blowing the budget. There’s plenty of terrific ideas out there – just take the time to have a look on line or go for a wander through the shops. Happy Shopping!

NB: There is merit to be had in tackling Christmas shopping early, or at least starting to ponder present possibilities. I normally wait for the Christmas carols, decorations and added bustle so I can enjoy the hype, but this year I’m ahead of the eight ball. I’ve been ferreting gifts away for the last month or so and must say I am enjoying the feeling of preparedness.
